Volume of Qatari Investments in the Russian economy will be increased
“Qatari investments in the Russian economy have reached considerable volume, and in the nearest future we are going to develop this investment pattern”, claimed the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani during the meeting with the students of the MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations).

The statesman visited Russia in order to have negotiations with President Dmitry Medvedev, Premier Minister Vladimir Putin and Gazprom representatives on a range of key issues about the cooperation of the two countries.

During his visit, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani received the honorary doctorate degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Anatoly Torkunov, President of the MGIMO, brought into focus the achievements of Sheikh in the sphere of international relations, particularly the conflict regulation in Lebanon and Darfur. As the official web-site of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations reports, he also said that the relationship between Russia and Qatar had become closer over recent years.

The diplomat gave a lecture for the MGIMO students. Speaking about the relationship between Russia and Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani mentioned that “our countries are regional neighbors, we have stable cooperation for years and we are ready and willing to strengthen our relationship”.

In the Questions and Answers section Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani showed a tough line towards the Arab-Israeli conflict and the ways to solve it. «The offender should be punished. Israel breaks international law and does not want to have peace. Just think – there are more about 1,000,000 citizens whose rights are regularly violated in this country. They are exasperated, frightened, saddened because nobody helps them. Therefore, these people can be dangerous for the whole world, as they are a source of real aggression. We know how to solve the conflict, but Israel does not accept our ideas. I believe, the problem will be solved, but, unfortunately, there is a chance it will be solved by war. Alas, Israel breaks our earlier agreements. It is really difficult to reach a consensus with them.”
