Nasser Haji Ibrahim Al-Muzayen: Tatarstan can become one of the centers of the Islamic finance development in Russia
Current relationship between Tatarstan and Kuwait can be developed in various fields, including culture, education and economics. Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, expressed this idea on April 29 during a meeting with Mr. Nasser Haji Ibrahim Al-Muzayen, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Kuwait to the Russian Federation, in the Kazan Kremlin.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, the history of the relationship between Tatarstan and Kuwait shows their great interest in each other. President suggested that Kuwaiti businessmen visit the Republic of Tatarstan in order to implement several economic projects.

Rustam Minnikhanov also announced that the visit of Mr. Nasser Haji Ibrahim Al-Muzayen would serve as an impulse for the future cooperation between countries.

"As a leader of the Republic, I am interested in the line of policy started by the first President of Tatarstan – Mintimer Shaimiev”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

Kuwaiti Ambassador reminded that this visit to Russia is his second one, and it started in the Tatar State University of Humanities and Education.

In addition to that, the guests had already discussed a set of questions on the cultural cooperation with Zilya Valeyeva, Vice-Prime-Minister and Minister of culture of Tatarstan, and had a meeting with executive board of the Russian Islamic University.

"We are going to develop our partnership and strengthen our cooperation in all spheres”, Mr. Nasser Haji Ibrahim Al-Muzayen said.

He also told about a five-year development plan in Kuwait, which implies construction, transport infrastructure, etc. The program budget is $125 billion dollars.

Kuwaiti Ambassador invited Tatarstan companies to participate in the implementation of these large-scale projects.

In addition to that he admitted that Kuwait is interested in development of touristic cooperation with Tatarstan, and suggested opening an office of some large tour operator in Kuwait and managing the tourist traffic.

Mr. Nasser Haji Ibrahim Al-Muzayen thinks that Tatarstan can become one of the centers of development of Islamic banking in Russia. He is sure that Russia understands the importance of the cooperation with Islamic banking institutes nowadays, and Tatarstan will be a basis for this process.

In response to these suggestions, Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan informed that a special group of civil servants will be formed in order to examine prospective projects.

In his turn, he invited Kuwait representatives to participate in the implementation of various projects in Tatarstan. Those are, first of all, agriculture business projects and vehicle component industry projects.

Kuwait has financial resources, and Tatarstan is a smart place to invest, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

According to him, the cooperation between Tatarstan and Kuwait in economic, cultural and educational spheres is not intense nowadays and it is necessary to try hard to move it to a new higher level.
