Bank Muamalat Cooperates with Tatarstan to promote Islamic Finance

Malaysia’s Bank Muamalat is cooperating with IFC Linova, an Islamic finance and business consultancy, on the Kazan Summit 2011 which will be held in June in the Tatarstan capital.
Malaysia’s Bank Muamalat is cooperating with IFC Linova, an Islamic finance and business consultancy, on the Kazan Summit 2011 which will be held in June in the Tatarstan capital. The major theme of this year’s summit is investing in the Halal business sector. The summit comprises a Halal Business Exhibition and Forum; an Islamic Finance Conference; and an Investment and Business Conference. According to the organiser of the Summit, IFC Linova, the main objectives of the Summit are to identify strategic development prospects of international economic relationships between Russia and Muslim countries; to develop cooperation in the sphere of direct investments in private sectors of Russia and Muslim countries; to facilitate discussions and development of Islamic finance in Tatarstan, Russia and the CIS. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Kuala Lumpur in December 2010 where he had talks with Malaysian government officials, corporate and financial executives on cooperation in several fields including Islamic finance and the halal food manufacturing. Presdient Minnikhaniv’s high-powered delegation included Iskander Muflikhanov, the Economic Advisor to the President; Ivan Yegorov, Director General of Holding Company Ak Bars; Linar Yakupov, Director General of IFC Linova; Yevgeny Tikhturov, Head of the Tatneft Financial Board; and Yevgeny Pronin, Deputy Director General of Kamaz, the truck and transport manufacturing giant of Russia.
