This year the International Economic Summit in Kazan brought together more than 700 participants from 43 countries including countries-members of OIC, Asian and European countries.
Program of the summit was opened with the business breakfast with the President, dedicated to common myths about Russia, where representatives of international companies not only shared their impressions of the already established relations with Tatarstan, but also talked about the specific areas and results of the cooperation. Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov pointed that Kazan is deservedly becoming the center of international cooperation.
The first day of the summit was filled with concurrent sessions on a variety of topics: world trends of creation and implementation of the projects of "smart" cities, new opportunities of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the OIC countries, the directions of investment promotion agencies, the prospects for the development of Islamic finance in Russia, investment potential of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan in particular, the role of the media in the investment attractiveness, etc.
Also guests and participants of KazanSummit had the opportunity to witness the laying of the first stone of Smart City Kazan. The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of The Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov, chief architect of "Smart City Kazan" Norliza Hashim and Chairman of Tatarstan Gulf Investment Company Khaled Al Jassim participated in the ceremony.
Also within KazanSummit 2013 the President of the Republic of Tatarstan held a series of business meetings with delegations from Turkey, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar and Pakistan. At the meeting of the President of the Republic and the Secretary General of the OIC Ikmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation compared Tatarstan with Singapore, marking a significant change in the republic. Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov also held meetings with the participants of the forum - with the Managing Director of the Middle East, Africa and Russia of Thomson Reuters Moftah Basilio, head of the Permanent Mission of the European Investment Bank in Russia Virgil Hae and others. Moreover, on the site of KazanSummit 2013 in the Main International Centre B2B meetings were held with the business representatives of Russia and the OIC countries.
The second day of the working program of the International Economic Summit opened the meeting of parliamentarians of Russia and the OIC countries, where the interaction between parliamentarians on issues of establishing a favorable business and investment climate, strengthening of peace and stability, the development of a dialogue between cultures and civilizations were discussed. The key event of the second day of the International Economic Summit of Russia and the OIC countries has become a strategic forum where performed the head of TIDA of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of KazanSummit Linar Yakupov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov , Secretary General of the OIC countries Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu , the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Ilyas Umakhanov , former President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Minister of Economy of the UAE Abdullah Al-Saleh , Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Konstantin Shuvalov , Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Qatar Sultan Al-Khater, the Deputy of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Nayer Hussain Bokhari . Speakers of the strategic forum noted the role of KazanSummit in the development and strengthening of relations between Russia and the Islamic world.
The summation of the summit became the signing of investment agreements worth 951 million dollars.
