The capital of Tatarstan – Kazan is a positive example of how one of Russia’s multi-ethnic and multi-confessional regions can be a region attractive for foreign investments. First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov stated it at the international economic forum in Davos.
In his speech at the morning session “Russia on the way of modernization” First Russian Vice-Premier introduced his vision of the country’s further development. For instance, orientation on the economy based on innovations and education, withdrawal from the resource-based economy.
Igor Shuvalov suggested to potential investors focusing attention on the positive trends in the country, trusting people business is working with.
He pointed out that on the enormous territory of Russia investors know the economically well-developed regions – Moscow and St. Petersburg, and also the regions remarkable for stable economy and investments. “For instance,” he said, “it is Kazan with its multi-ethnic population. There are a mosque and an Orthodox Christian temple in the city downtown and people of different nationalities treat each other in a friendly way,” Igor Shuvalov said.
He reminded that the head of this region Rustam Minnikhanov is taking part in the World Economic Forum work, RT President’s press-service informs.
